Performance Schools with Toplighting Strategies

Wasco, of America's largest
skylight manufacturers, provides a full line of commercial skylight
solutions, including polycarbonate panel assemblies, unit skylights,
metal framed systems, translucent skylights and canopies. Many
skylights are available with Lumira Aerogel, a breakthrough
insulating material that delivers glare-free, full spectrum diffused
light and increased thermal performance without an appreciable drop
in light transmission.
Although this presentation is focused on schools, the Wasco program
is a good resource for all skylight & daylighting related design
issues and is applicable to a wide variety of projects.
In this course we will review the
definition of High Performance Schools as defined by the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency and examine toplighting and
skylighting as a tool for proper daylighting strategies. Also
covered will be an overview of the role natural daylight plays in
bio-chemical health. Lastly, we will provide a synopsis of
current innovations in high performance and dynamic glazing and
commissioning tools that help ensure daylighting designs achieve set
performance standards.
